Temper Tantrum

Sarah is a joy to be around, even though she is a stubborn little toddler. She knows what she does and does not want, even at a very young age. From a very young age she started to assert her authority on the family with baby tantrums. Language and verbal communication is not yet necessary for Sarah. Even though she is too young to speak, she communicates well. She has developed some words to communicate like no, up, this and that.

Non verbal communication has come easily for Sarah. she has a huge frown with furrowed brows if she does not get what she wants. Even at her young age, if she does not get what she wants, she has a tantrum. The transition to toddler is actually marking an exciting stage of development.

Tantrums started much earlier with Sarah. Charlotte really did not have too many tantrums, Sarah on the other hand is the Queen of them and has been since she was one.

I know many parents who love the toddler stage, but are also frustrated with the toddler problems associated with it. screaming, crying, yelling and head banging! This stage of development can be frustrating yet joyous at the same time.

Funnily enough, I am not too worried about this stage because I have learnt the secret to dealing with toddlers temper tantrums. I can feel confident that I can assist my child by still letting her develop and go through the normal toddler stage, but also influence her behaviour in a positive way and achieve peace in the household.

There is help out there to learn the skills to effectively deal with your toddler. Your choice of words can actually be the difference between a toddler having a tantrum and not having one. When I decided to understand my child better, I learnt the overwhelming power of sentence structure. It is easy to just remian frustrated during this time of develoment. It is always a positive step to seek skills to assist your parenting ability.
