Not everybody has heard of organic baby food; this seems to be a novelty, and the direct consequence of the preponderance of non-organic products on the market. Organic baby food is supported by ecological crops where no pesticides, insecticides, fertilizers and other chemicals are used. Meat, eggs, vegetables and fruits are grown according to traditional agriculture, and relying on on the gifts of Mother Nature alone. Mass production of organic baby food has increased over the last five years and it seems to have a very promising future. Let’s see what benefits organic food has for babies and how it keeps them safe and healthy.
During the first year of life, a baby’s digestive system is immature and delicate. Plus, the first twelve months are the life period with the most spectacular growth. Evolution therefore depends on food and its properties to support it. Organic baby food comes with fresh, pure ingredients that have not been spoiled by chemicals, preservers and additives. With non-organic products, the body also absorbs the chemical substances used for treating the food. The system cannot eliminate all of these chemicals, and in time symptoms of intoxication appear. This is often a very harsh test for a young body.
There is a wide range of organic baby food to choose from. Organic cereals can be fed to the baby since four or six months of age, and they are very nutritive. Organic rice flakes are the most suitable during this period, with the gradual use of wheat, corn, barley and rye in combinations. Lots of manufacturers of organic baby foods produce varieties of combined cereal matching different stages of development. Besides cereal, everything the baby eats should be clean and pure in terms of ingredients.
The choice of fruit and vegetables seems to be the least demanding, because such organic products are commonly available with hypermarkets and local markets too. For travelers, canned organic baby food is an ideal alternative to fresh puree. Such products are usually sterilized and enriched with vitamins for a superior nutritive value. Plus, the organic nature of the ingredients guarantees quality and more nutrients. Consequently, next time you buy baby food, look on the label to make sure that it reads ‘organic’.

Thanks for your blog. We hope baby food processors will become part of our association.
You’re right about the things you mentioned and now evidence has surfaced about absorption in the womb by the fetus of pesticides which may cause a transformation of the genes. This then may be the cause of the obesity we’re seeing in infants under six months old. A new phenomena, with the rise in pesticide use.
